In recent days, in the seventh Permanent Commission of the Senate, a resolution was approved on the subject of "Dismissal of the use of animals in circuses and traveling shows, with reference to the criteria for allotment of the single show fund".
This motion was made necessary because there was a lack of approval of the legislative decrees on the prohibition of animals in circuses. The ball is passed to the Government which must evaluate whether or not to allow the presence of bears, elephants, tigers and others in circus shows.
But unfortunately, bad news arrives from Lombardy. The grillino Luigi Piccirillo had promoted a motion calling for a stop to animals used as puppets to entertain the spectators under the awning, but the motion was rejected.

"We asked Lombardy for a simple and clear political commitment: stop circus animals. Lombardy can act immediately and by increasing checks with veterinary personnel specialized in exotic animals and it is the prerogative of the regions to take action with the Government. Obviously these issues and the suffering of animals is not their priority ”, writes Piccirillo on social networks.
Net of the political controversies that are of little interest to us, all this represents one defeat which is added to that famous law of 2017 which provided for the disposal of animals in the circus and which still does not apply. And as always, all at the expense of our animal friends.
