In the mouth of the whale. An incredible story that seems to come out of the Pinocchio movie. A Cape Cod fisherman said he was in a humpback whale's mouth for about 30 seconds. He thought he was going to die, but luckily the animal shook its head and spat it out.

Michael Packard, 56, of Wellfleet, shared his incredible misadventure on WBZ-TV after being discharged from Cape Cod hospital.

It all happened when it was about 14 meters deep in the waters off Provincetown. Suddenly she saw everything dark. He thought he was attacked by a shark, common in the area's waters, but then he realized he couldn't feel his teeth and didn't feel any pain.

“Then I realized, oh my God, I'm in a whale's mouth… and it's trying to swallow me,” she said. "And I thought to myself 'OK, that's it, I'm going to die'".

The man estimates that he remained in the whale's mouth for about 30 seconds. Then the whale emerged, he shook his head and spat it out. He was thus saved by his crew mate who was in the boat on the surface.

The humpback whales are not aggressive and Mayo thinks it was an accidental encounter while the whale was feeding.
