The frog who becomes a prince charming has always fascinated everyone, a fairy tale that they told us as children but now there really is the one that awaits its princess. We tell you the story of Romeo, a solitary specimen since he could be the only one in the world of his kind. This is why we are looking for his Giulietta, this time wishing us a happier ending.

The Bolivian Anphibian Initiative would like to start 10 expeditions to places where the species was once common, hoping to find a female mate for Romeo. The latter is a Sehuencas water frog, and is probably the only member of its species alive today. At least until proven otherwise.

Researchers have not lost hope and are thinking of exploiting a holiday that has now become purely commercial like Valentine's Day to put the fate of some almost extinct animals at the center of global attention and to touch our heartstrings to help find a companion for Romeo.

Il Global Wildlife Conservation, Match - the world's largest relationship company - and the Bolivian Anphibian Initiative have launched a fundraising campaign to find her. The goal is to get more researchers to find out if other Sehuencas water frogs exist.

Romeo has his personal profile on Match, and the campaign aims to raise $ 15.000 for Valentine's Day, money that will be used to fund 10 field expeditions of the Bolivian Anphibian Initiative. From basic equipment to transportation and guides, funds will be essential in finding other frogs to keep this species alive.

"Hello. I'm Romeo. I am literally the last of my kind. I know - strong stuff. But that's why I'm here, hoping to find my perfect match to save our species. I am a pretty simple guy, I love food, I am not picky. I just need another Sehuencas like me. Otherwise, my entire existence as we know it will be over ”more or less reads the frog's appeal.
