A life for Kora spent in captivity, which perhaps she never got used to since at the first opportunity she managed to escape from the artificial habitat that had been recreated for her and the other animals. And it all happened despite her being a new mother who is still breastfeeding her parents two puppies.

The red panda is a mammal of the order of carnivores, the only living representative of the Ailuridae family. The zoo managers have searched the whole area, but there is no trace of Kora, other animals have also been moved to see if she has ended up in their enclosures. "There were severe storms during the night, but the surveillance cameras did not notice any suspicious motion," writes the zoo.

The animal poses no threat, but the zoo is eager to locate it. “The animal care team thinks she is probably close and that she can come back on her own, because of her two puppies. However, if anyone in the vicinity of the zoo sees a small red mammal weighing around 19 kg with a long fluffy striped tail - probably on a tree - they should contact the Columbus Zoo immediately at: 614-582-1844. It is better not to go near the red panda, as of course they are shy animals and we do not want to scare them ”.
