The pygmy elephant who died from 70 bullets fired at close range was killed not by poachers but by two guards.

A local fisherman had discovered his body in a river in Sabah, immersed in murky water and tied to a tree with a rope. The body had been recovered by authorities using heavy machinery from a nearby farm.
The tests showed that the animal was hit 70 times and that he had a blow to his left temple, which led to his final death.
It is not known how long it took before the death, but the examiner believes it was not an instant process. That is to say that the animal suffered for a long time, and who knows how long. An attack defined as cruel and "uncommon" even by the director of the Sabah Wildlife Department, Augustine Tuuga, as reported by NewStraitsTimes.
As stated, two guards killed him they shot him to drive him away from some plantations. After the killing, it is believed that the elephant was tied up in order to recover the tusks, which were sawed off.
The police came to these results following the arrest in recent days of 6 suspects, including the two guards, who were seized several weapons. Fortunately, the culprits have been identified and will be punished according to the laws of the country.
