Tourists who feed them regularly are avoiding Thailand due to the Coronavirus outbreak, and so, hundreds of hungry monkeys have fought over a single banana left on the street.

Used to being fed by thousands of tourists, even the wild monkeys of Thailand at the time of the Coronavirus, are not doing well at all and invade the almost deserted streets of the city of Lopburi in search of food. The images of them as the horde attack a monkey holding a banana are truly impressive. The primates, almost enraged, jump on each other, screaming at the top of their lungs and fiercely clinging to each other as the battle for the "snack" intensifies.

This behavior is completely anomalous for these monkeys, accustomed to living with men and perfectly integrated into the city, as reported by the inhabitants of the town in central Thailand and in particular Sasaluk Rattanachai, the boy who took the video, then released by Viralpress agency.

“They looked more like wild dogs than monkeys. They went crazy for a single piece of food. I've never seen them so aggressive. I think the monkeys were very, very hungry. Normally many tourists come here to feed the monkeys, but now there aren't that many, due to the coronavirus, "said Sasaluk.

And indeed Lopburi is a popular tourist destination where visitors typically feed on the thousands of monkeys that live near the city's temples. Local media claimed that the hundreds of monkeys belonged to two rival gangs and had been fighting over food as the number of tourists in the country plummeted. Usually the territories of the two "bands" are separated from each other by the train tracks that divide the city. Probably the hunger of one of the two tribes led them to cross them in search of food.

A surreal scene, in short, almost like a movie, but in this period, it is certainly not the only one.
