It happened in Casalbuttano, in the province of Cremona, and the incident was reported by a citizen who found the swallows. The animals probably fell after that their nest was hit by a water balloon.
It is not known who made such a cruel gesture and for what purpose. Citizens invite anyone who has useful information to provide them in order to find the culprits.
Just a few days ago, in Albairate, in the province of Milan, someone has destroyed a swallow's nest by literally stoning it. A shameful act that caused the death of four small specimens that came into the world a few days ago. Also in this case the identity of the person who made the gesture is not known.
These acts against the swallows are not only shameful, but also punishable by law. We remember in fact that swallows are among the protected species: according to the law (law 157/92 on the protection of homeothermic wildlife and for hunting) the destruction of nests and eggs and the killing of specimens are prohibited. Infringements can be reported to the organization for forest, environmental and agri-food protection of the Carabinieri (former Forest Guard).
