"The Committee considers it extremely important that animal rescue operations should continue within an area of 20 kilometers," said Dr. Dick Green, IFAW Manager for Environmental Disasters. He continues: "Recommendations have been provided to ensure human and animal safety and the Committee believes that as long as these safety protocols are followed, well-trained and equipped rescue teams should continue to remove animals from the restricted zone."

But second Geapress, there is still a lot of work to be done. "It started with 27 dogs and two cats that the owners had to leave at their homes", the website reads, but there are still at least 200 pets to save, for which the levels of contamination they don't seem to be a danger.

"The animals of Fukushima have been in our thoughts after the disaster," he continued Dick Green. “We are extremely relieved to hear that Japan has begun this bailout effort. The team of veterinarians and officials of the Ministry of the Environment is following our recommendations of the Committee aimed at ensuring safety for both animals and people ”.

The situation of the livestock animals, most of them dead inside the enclosures that housed it. Nothing else is known about those in the wild. According to official Japanese sources, 3 thousand cows, 30 thousand pigs, 600 thousand chickens and many other domestic animals should be left in the evacuated area.
