He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him
Fawn is a lucky cow, even if its paws don't work. Even though his life began with a tragedy. Because she can now show off two new prostheses that will help her walk and to live happy, loved, free and pampered. Fawn, in fact, is one of the many animals of the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, living beings with difficult histories, rescued from farms and slaughterhouses.
Daughter of a dairy cow of a American breeding, when her mother was born she was confined and chained in a milking stall, where she could neither turn around nor lie down. So she was forced to give birth to her standing. When the little girl came out, she fell into the concrete manure pit that was behind the row of cows. The calf hit the surface with its muzzle and front knee, while its mother was desperate not to be able to reach and help her.
Only the next day did the farmer find her in the pit, with infected and swollen wounds. He decided to hand it over to a local woman named Jennifer, known for her love for cows. But the vet did not correctly diagnose her fracture and Fawn's infected knee never fully healed. His healthy paws would never be able to withstand the weight gain.
For the first few months Fawn he walked with a limp, using the knees of his forelegs. Desperate to give her one more chance, Jannifer has reached the Shrine for help. Seeing his knees and paws so horribly twisted, everyone expected vets to recommend euthanasia.
But there was hope. To restore his ability to walk, he had to operate on the front legs, repairing the damaged bone, knee and shortened ligaments in the other leg. His recovery would be slow and the cost substantial.
But Fawn made it and now walks thanks to two new and beautiful prostheses.
