New anti-fraud operation concerning organic farming. An international network that marketed products with false organic and in some cases even GMO certifications was unmasked.

Yet another organic scam. This time it was the Inspectorate for the Repression of Fraud (ICQRF) to unmask the counterfeit bio products together with the Pesaro Finance Police, with the collaboration of the State Forestry Corps involved in the operation "Vertical bio”Which ended this morning.
The criminal association investigated was of international level, some of the participants carried out their activities in the organic sector and, using some tricks, were able to import from countries such as Moldova, Ukraine and India some grains (soy, corn, wheat, flax and more) with false "bio" certifications.
The products were intended to become animal feed but in some cases were considered suitable for human consumption. To be scammed were several European companies and their respective unsuspecting consumers convinced that they were buying truly organic products that instead were not only not but on the contrary in some cases they contained GMOs as well as pesticides such as glyphosate and chlormequat.
To reach this result, it took two years of investigations made of chemical analysis of the products but also of telephone interceptions and screening of documents. At the moment, an Emilian man aged over 70, head of the organization, and 8 other accomplices have ended up under house arrest. 4 disqualification measures were also notified to the exercise of business activity e assets seized for about 35 million euros.
