Intensive agriculture e sustainable agriculture compared in a video. The differences between the two cultivation methods should be obvious, but not everyone is fully aware of them. It is good to spread greater awareness of the advantages of environmentally friendly agriculture. Countryside Food We Want proposes an awareness video, launched on the occasion of theInternational Year of Family Agriculture.

The video stimulates reflection on the problems created by intensive agriculture and on the advantages of sustainable agriculture. The UN has named 2014 as the International Year of Family Farming to highlight the importance of small farmers in the fight against hunger and in the sustainable use of resources.

We are new consumers to decide which agricultural model to support, thanks to our purchases. Those who choose products from sustainable agriculture decide at the same time to support workers' rights and greater respect for the environment, while protecting our health and well-being.

THEintensive agriculture threatens the variety of life on the planet and poisons land and water with fertilizers and pesticides. To obtain greater earnings, in intensive agriculture only one plant species is grown on very large land, taken away from small farmers. Intensive agriculture pollutes the planet and impoverishes farmers. Bring flavorless products to our tables.

THEsustainable agriculture it is based on crop rotation, protects the fertility of the soil, guarantees the protection of biodiversity. It favors the work of small farmers and reduces the use of pesticides and fertilizers. In this way the planet is protected. By choosing sustainable agriculture, we can bring to our tables products that retain their original good flavor.

With the decision to celebrate the International Year of Family Farming, the UN wanted to recognize its central role in addressing the double emergency that the world is facing today: improving food security and preserving natural resources, in line with the Millennium Development Goals, the debate on the post-2015 agenda and Zero Hunger Challenge.

Il awareness video was created as part of the Food We Want campaign by Romborosa e The Vespaio per Oikos Institute, a secular and independent non-profit organization that since 1996 has been involved in Europe and in developing countries for the protection of biodiversity, for the responsible management of natural resources and for the dissemination of more sustainable lifestyles as tools of social and economic work, as well as the fight against poverty.
