In Zimbabwe, a man was trampled to death by an elephant while trying to take a selfie. But the adult elephant was later killed.

But the epilogue was even more tragic: the adult elephant was in turn executed by the rangers of the Zimparks (Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority) just outside the town of Kwekwe, a small town in the Midland Province.
According to local media reports, the man died while trying to take some pictures with the elephants. Which did not please the pachyderms, so much so that one of them charged and killed him.
Sad fate also for the pachyderm, if shortly afterwards the Park rangers wasted no time in "repaying" it with the same coin and suppressing it.

He was also trying to attack another man, the Park justify themselves, and at that point the inevitable conclusion. Once the park rangers reached the elephant, they finally killed him.
The rangers had no choice - comments Tinashe Farawo, head of public relations at the park. Then, a recommendation: We urge communities in villages and towns to stay away from wild animals.

Indeed, of course, this tragedy could have been avoided. But that means annoying the animals. If that man had done the right thing - which is to leave the wildlife alone - the elephant would probably still be alive. Instead, he essentially signed both her death warrant. All for a selfie.
