Un Beached dolphin was buried on a public beach in Hvar (Foggia). For this reason, the Enpa has written to the Minister of the Environment, Minister of Health, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Policies, Minister of the Interior and to the General Command of the Port Authorities, to urgently have not only explanations, but also information on other cetaceans that would have beached themselves, but of which there is no trace.

The scene, according to local press sources, would have happened before the incredulous eyes of those present, who promptly took a video of what happened. The images immortalize a bulldozer digging a pit, under the supervision of a traffic policeman, in which the lifeless body of the decaying cetacean will be placed.

It should be pointed out, as reported by the same citizens who reported the fact, that along the whole coast Torre Mileto - "Schiapparo" - (Foggia) via is a massive presence of heaps of asbestos and bins garbage spilled and therefore unusable. The deterioration of the area is amply documented by images on the net, which leave no room for doubt.

“We have reported yet another case of mismanagement of a dolphin stranding and the failure to apply the necessary protocols to protect the species itself, public health and safety ", declares Ilaria Ferri scientific director of the Enpa, Ilaria Ferri, according to which there have been a series of grossly omissive, dangerous and perhaps even illegitimate behavior.

The news would also concern a series of beached and deceased cetaceans, of which there is, however, no trace. "We wonder what were the operational protocols put in place, how it was possible to hide the bodies of animals belonging to other particularly protected species without excluding that the death was caused by human action or by diseases of the species such as the morbillivirus . Whether and how a competent veterinarian intervened able to establish the necessary measures, notoriously established by international protocols and above all how it was possible bury the animal on a public beach without having ruled out possible zoonoses and, moreover, not having reported the landfill and prevented access to the beach itself for the reasons mentioned above ".

The Enpa then asked the competent ministries what actions have been taken to ensure the operational emergency network for beached cetaceans, what are the reference bodies and what title were involved, what are the provisions, determinations and official acts issued by the Ministries aimed at guaranteeing the correct intervention service on beached cetaceans and with what tools, means and coordination.
