Dogs and cats killed in shelters in New York, let's stop the horror (mail bombing)

Dogs and cats killed seven days a week if they don't find a family within hours. This is the policy adopted in the AC&C refuge in New York against which the Enpa was unleashed. In these days, the animal rights association has launched a real mail bombing against the mayor Bill De Blasio and his promises in the electoral campaign.

Dogs and cats killed seven days a week, if they don't find a family within hours. This is the policy adopted in the AC&C refuge in New York against which the Enpa was unleashed. In these days, the animal rights association has launched a real mail bombing against the mayor Bill De Blasio and his promises in the electoral campaign.

I am already 72 thousand adhesions collected in a few hours on the Enpa Facebook page, a real protest launched on the eve of the municipal elections in New York (scheduled for November 7) with the aim of asking De Blasio, running for a second term, a clear change of direction in the management of strays.

"A management that still envisages the use of anachronistic, cruel and completely ineffective killing of animals", explains ENPA in a press release.

Above all, the accused is the AC&C refuge, where it does not matter if they are strays, animals abandoned or lost by their owners: dogs and cats are destined to end up on death row. All in a legalized and state-financed manner (15 million dollars a year according to Enpa).

“Often dogs and cats in perfect health are killed only because, in an attempt to escape from their cage, they end up scratching an employee of the shelter. The executioner does not even stop in front of mothers with their children. They kill the most beautiful cats after using them in advertising posters to get money. This happens in shelters in Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens, ”the association continues.

The protest, conducted together with New York activists, has been going on for some time and progress has been made: for example, two well-known brands have withdrawn their logo from fundraising events promoted by the refuge. But the road is all uphill as cats and dogs continue to be innocent victims of a completely wrong system.

“In 2013, on the occasion of his candidacy for mayor, De Blasio had promised policies that were more attentive to the respect and protection of animals. Many of those commitments have been turned down. It is time for you to give substance to your words ”, concludes Enpa.
