Do not buy the balls of seeds and fat for birds closed in nylon, they are dangerous

Do you want to offer food to birds in distress? Be careful not to use balls of grease and seeds wrapped in nylon, they are dangerous

With the lowering of temperatures, birds are not always able to find enough food and sometimes risk death, especially as a result of frosts and heavy snow. Can we do anything to help them? The answer, fortunately, is yes! Very little is needed: we can leave food, for example seeds, on our terrace or balcony, in areas easily accessible by blackbirds, robins and other birds.

The ideal would be to buy balls made of grease and seeds to be placed outside our home or on the windowsill. Be careful, however, not to hang them using nylon nets, even if many do. On the market there are several bags made of this material and ready to hang, but they are to be categorically avoided.

These nets, in fact, can be very dangerous for birds because they can get entangled with the legs, without being able to free themselves easily.

If you want to buy ready-made balls always remove the retina and simply place them on the windowsill, in plant pots or wedge them in tree branches. Alternatively, you can make your own balls based on fat and seeds, using ingredients readily available at home, including peanuts (unsalted), raisins, margarine and sunflower seeds (CLICK HERE to find out how).

Another thing to avoid, but which many continue to do, is to give breadcrumbs to the birds. This is because they lack proteins suitable for their needs in the coldest periods.
