The photographer from Los Angeles until recently unknown to many, thanks to the “social” power of the web, has now found himself famous and with a full bank account. Thanks to his talent, his two four-legged friends and… the viral strength of the network.
In fact, last Thursday, the man revealed that he had received two e-mails informing him that the photos of his dogs intent on having fun underwater had been sent to Reddit and Google+. Casteel lives with a little one labradoodle and to a Norwich Terrier.
According to him, the success of the photos is linked to the fact that for the first time one side of the photos was shown dogs unknown, which people have never seen before. From the images it seems that the two puppies are having a blast. But not only.
The merit of the photographer would have been to have caught the wild instincts of its animals. Although some photos show them having fun, chasing a tennis ball, for example, others show the more natural and instinctive, in the true sense of the term.
"Over the course of several thousand years, we have taken wolves and turned them into Boston terriers," Casteel told theHuffington Post. “But still, in their hearts, the dogs have kept their wild instincts. For me, it was nice to see just those instincts underwater, because underwater they had the best chance to do it. "
"I woke up with a lot of money in my bank account," he added, explaining that he had received so many orders that his Online shop had some stability problems. And actually the photos of her published in an album on Facebook have received over 30 thousand appreciations in a few days
Just a few months ago, Casteel was struggling to pay his bills after spending all he had to buy one waterproof camera, which made his "enterprise" possible.
Beyond the economic side, Casteel's story sent a message clear. The animals they can teach us so many things: "People identify with dogs because they share a similar range of emotions," said Casteel. And referring to her dogs, he added: "We understand each other and we have built this fantastic relationship".
