The protagonists of this sweet and incredible story of friendship are Daisy, a rhinoceros puppy, and Modjadji, a zebra filly. The adorable and unusual couple met at the Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary in South Africa, where, in addition to cuddling, they support each other, protect and help each other heal.

Daisy is a baby rhino rescued in December 2021 when she was only 12 hours old by the SANParks team. The rescue took place during a routine operation in Kruger in South Africa, after she was found very weak, unable to stand up and with the umbilical cord still attached to her tiny body.
Since then, the little rhino has been welcomed in the intensive care of the sanctuary. Here she is receiving essential care to improve her health, and it is here that she met Modjadji, a young zebra who, like her, is a patient of the sanctuary, rescued after a storm.

Daisy still has a long way to go before she can regain her strength. Considering the conditions in which she had arrived, every day that the little rhino wakes up is a true "miracle". Undoubtedly the care that her human friends are giving her have helped her to improve considerably, but it is above all the friendship of the zebra Modjadji that most of all she thanks Daisy for having received.
I have been feeling better for exactly a week now and I am getting stronger every day. There have been many ups and downs. I love my human assistants, but there is someone special who also deserves a big thank you and a lot of love over the past few weeks.
