Cute sloths in pajamas: an eulogy to slowness (video)

A tiny sloth orphan in pajamas. He is small, sweet and helpless. And above all exposed to many diseases, without the prodigious antibodies of his mother's milk. For this he needs all the attention he needs to heal from a skin infection caused by parasites. A tiny orphan of bradipo in pajamas. He is small, sweet and helpless. And above all exposed to many diseases, without the prodigious antibodies of his mother's milk. For this he needs all the attention he needs to heal from a skin infection caused by parasites. Luckily for him he is in Costa Rica, in the orphanage of sloths who have lost their mothers, the Sloth Sanctuary, a recovery center run by Judy Avey-Arroyo.

The puppy is thus subjected to a treatment proven by Judy: first it is shaved, then rubbed with an ointment and, finally, bandaged. Last step, more like a habit, he is dressed in a light blue pajamas with blue stars, which is nothing but an additional colored bandage. And then to bed, together with her little brother already "treated" so that the ointment, made especially by the director of the sanctuary, acts against parasites without the little ones licking or scratching. Maybe hugging a teddy bear, of which the orphans particularly enjoy the company.

Since the reporter Lucy cooke made the documentary "Meet the sloths", after being struck by the little guests during a visit to the center, the little sloths in pajamas have become real mini-stars. Their video, an excerpt from the longest work documenting what happens in thethe only sanctuary in the world dedicated to the protection of orphaned sloths or injured, it is traveling around the world, striking the hearts of the hundreds, thousands of people who have viewed it, who have been able to peek at the images of the little sloths lovingly cared for and refurbished. After being broadcast in the US, Meet the Sloths landed in the UK on the channel Animal Planet. And it was a great success.

In short, the new star of the web is the sloth. And we can only be happy, if only for their magnificent praise of slowness, which reminds us that what we really need is one Slow Life. We learn from these beautiful animals the art of living slowly, leaving behind the frenetic pace that our society forces us to. We live like the sloth! With “slow feet”, as the etymology of its name suggests.
