Terror in a Russian circus. A lioness attacked her trainer in front of the astonished eyes of the onlookers. The animal, a 5-year-old female, is called Vega.

They are screams in the crowd as the lioness sank claws and teeth into the body of Maxim Orlov, who sustained severe injuries and was taken to hospital. The images have also ended up on social media and are truly shocking.

It happened in recent days in Moshkovo, Russia. During a show, so to speak, the Ural Traveling Circus Vega threw herself at her trainer, injuring him.

The circus staff tried to drive the lioness away with poles. Another agitated lioness started spinning inside the circus ring but without attacking Orlov.

Here are the terrible images of the attack, spread on social networks:

While we were running away we heard the animals roar. We were going crazy

said Viktoriya, a witness. Orlov suffered a series of injuries to his legs and arms. He said:

Animals are animals, but she won't perform again.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened, even in Russia itself. Animals in captivity, forced to exhausting training, are often subjected to situations of great stress.

Just recently, in March, two elephants in Russia were making their entrance on the track when suddenly, for no apparent reason, they started fighting and even ended up outside the arena next to the spectators. Last fall, once again in Russia a tamer was mauled and killed by a bear.

Therefore, these are not isolated cases but accidents that should reflect once again on the uselessness of these shows, which profit on the skin of animals in captivity.
