It is not the first time that we have talked about the little bambi killed by mowers, a sad scenario that repeats itself every year despite the commitment of volunteers and associations. This time it happened on the Berici Hills in Veneto and it is to report it Bertillo Conte, president of the Associazione Difesa Natura 2000 Colli Berici which since 2016 has been fighting for the protection of fauna and flora throughout the area.
“A tough and demanding week with many recovery and rescue interventions for roe deer cubs injured or killed during haymaking by mowers. Our calls for grass cuts to be made starting from the center of the lawn to go outside were completely disregarded. There are 14 puppies for which I have been called to intervene this week, of which only 4 for the moment alive with some impairment ”, writes Bertillo Conte.
What must be done to save the roe deer?
"It is increasingly urgent to have tools suitable for detecting puppies hidden in the grass, one of these could be the so-called game savior ISA, a telescopic rod with 10 infrared sensors that perceive the heat of the puppy hidden in the grass. ”, Continues the president.
