So grandfather Alfie spent many days a knitting for little birds in distress and has produced many miniature dresses for them, thanks to its 80 years of experience and expertise in the knitwear sector. He started off as a self-taught after starting 'knitting' for his grandson in 1930. Today he has seven children and 20 grandchildren, and "about the same amount" of great-grandchildren.
His secret to a long life? Simply "wake up every morning". Thus the over one hundred year old shows us that it is never too late to help other living beings in difficulty. Alfie also keeps her hands active by making scarves for friends and hats for premature babies.
