Animals have no pain or feelings. This is the opinion of the English Parliament (PETITION)

'They're just animals so they can't have feelings.' A chilling sentence, the one that comes directly from the British Parliament, which passed a provision that states that animals do not feel any kind of emotion.

'They're just animals so they can't have feelings.' A chilling sentence, the one that comes directly from the British Parliament, which voted a measure which states that animals do not feel any kind of emotion.

According to the English Parliament, joy, pain, gratitude, affection, love, fidelity and so on would be feelings that animals have never and never will feel in their life. Because? Because 'they are just animals'.

British Prime Minister Theresa May after attempting to restore fox hunting, is now able to pass a provision that denies animals the ability to feel emotions.

In practice, things went like this. Green MP Caroline Lucas wanted to insert a rule according to which animals "feel pain and emotions" like humans. But the proposal was rejected: 313 votes against and 295 in favor.

According to the British, animals already enjoy enough rights and are already protected by the Animal Welfare Act of 2006, so there would be no need for new regulations. The world of animal rights activists has been unleashed mainly because it remains to be seen whether this law, once the Brexit passage is completed, will still remain in force.

And we too are worried, since we have always argued the opposite. Not only are animals wonderful beings that fill our lives, but we are sure that well-defined emotions and feelings are hidden behind their gaze and behavior.

We know how selfless and kind i are bonobo, of how dolphins and whales communicate with each other, of the sense of belonging of wolves, of the strong sense of humor of rabbits. And again dogs, cats and a whole endless list of other animals.

What will be the consequences of the non-approval of the standard? The main problem concerns non-domestic animals, wild or used as guinea pigs in the laboratory, which will no longer have the guaranteed protection of EU standards.

Here's why animals aren't without feelings:

    • BONOBO: PYGMIES ARE KIND AND HELP THE UNKNOWN
    • BEES MAY FEEL POSITIVE, NEW STUDY CONFIRMS IT
    • ANIMALS: THEY KNOW HOW TO DISTINGUISH GOOD FROM EVIL
    • DOLPHINS, DOGS AND ELEPHANTS ARE AS INTELLIGENT (AND MORE) AS INTELLIGENT AS PRIMATES. BUT THEIR WAY

In short, a very ugly step backwards that denies the most basic rights to animals. Only the domestic ones will remain protected by national laws, all the others will be considered as objects, without emotions. For this reason, a petition has been launched which aims to change the mind of the English Parliament.
