For years they have only seen cages, crowds of visitors and lived an existence not worthy of being called life in a Ukrainian zoo. But now for five lions and one tiger the terrible nightmare is finally over. After being released by the activists of the Ong Warriors of Wildlife, they took a long journey (72 hours) by plane and van, but in the end it was worth it. A few days ago the big cats landed in a sanctuary of the South Africa, where they were able to savor the beauty and freedom of the savannah.

For the six animals - Khaya, Jen, Aslan, Hercules, Cher and Gina - making the journey was not easy at all, but DHL Global Forwarding took care of the logistic organization, the same company that in the past made the rescue possible. of several brown bears, pandas and, more recently of Kaavan, "the loneliest elephant in the world" (for which the famous singer Cher had fought, raising public awareness).

The big cats from Chernivtsi and Nikolaev zoos (in southern Ukraine) traveled for more than three days by road, then by plane, then again by road before arriving at the Simbonga Game Farm & Sanctuary in South Africa. The transfer was split into 2 teams as the animals were taken from different parts of Ukraine. After a journey that seemed endless, the lions and the tiger were able to enjoy the African sun, after years forced into the cold of Ukraine.

Naturally, the big cats were followed at all stages by the vets and slowly began to respond to the stimuli present in nature, which they had been dreaming of for some time.

Good new life, Khaya, Jen, Aslan, Hercules, Cher and Gina! Enjoy the much desired freedom!
