    Let's go back to talking about the situation of pigs in Liguria which, even if healthy, and therefore not affected by African swine fever, should be killed by law. However, LAV has announced that it has made its legal department available to assist those who have adopted pigs who are now at risk of slaughter.




    The absurd ordinance of the Liguria Region which, to curb the advance of swine fever, also provides for the killing of healthy pigs is extremely cruel and has obviously sparked a series of controversies.

    Various animal welfare organizations are working in various ways to stop the slaughter of pigs.     LAV itself has decided to make its own available legal department to assist adopters of pigs which should now be culled. The service is available to people who reside in infected areas declared by the Ministry of Health and have received orders to kill their animal.

    In fact, the ordinance, as the LAV reminds us, provides for the slaughter of pigs found in wild, semi-wild, mixed and even family farms:

    Unfortunately, these definitions also include animals legitimately held by many citizens who have chosen to live with a swine (Vietnamese, Thai and other pigs).
