Yasuni: that illegal oil road that threatens uncontacted tribes and the Amazon rainforest (PETITION)

The native tribes of Ecuador and the Amazon rainforest present on the country's territory are in danger due to the imminent start of new oil exploration operations. There is a risk of genuine genocide, as well as a serious threat to an environment that should remain uncontaminated.

The native tribes ofEcuador and Amazon rainforest present on the territory of the country are in danger due to the imminent start of new operations for the search and extraction of Petroleum. There is a risk of genuine genocide, as well as a serious threat to an environment that should remain uncontaminated.

The Ministry of the Environment in Ecuador is about to grant the environmental license for carrying out oil operations in lot 55, also known as Campo Armadillo. It is a territory inhabited by indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation.

La open letter addressed to the Government of Ecuador by Salviamo La Foresta asks for the definitive closure of Lot 55 and the cancellation of all concessions issued for it. In particular, he asks the expansion of the Tagaeri Taromenae Intangible Zone up to this lot and beyond, so much so as to establish a territory that protects the integrity and fundamental human rights of these populations indefinitely, thus avoiding an imminent genocide.

The lot in question is located in the Yasuni , a region of Ecuador whose territory, officially, would be protected by the institution of a National Park which in 1989 was named by Unesco as Biosphere Reserve, as it represents one of the richest areas of biodiversity in the world.

The discovery of a illegal oil road in the Yasuni National Park a few months ago it alarmed the world and now the concern is growing because the government could grant a permit that will threaten the life of the tribes and the protection of the Amazon rainforest.

Due to the presence of occult populations, who choose to remain uncontacted, any extraction should be denied. The associations that have been working for years, in various ways, for the protection of these populations, ask the Government of Ecuador to immediately stop the oil business in lot 55.

The campaign started on November 20, 2015 and Salviamo La Foresta made available one online petition to be signed and distributed.
