With these small tricks it is possible to solve the unpleasant winter inconvenience of having the windows always fogged up

In winter, the difference in temperature between inside and outside generates the phenomenon of condensation: in practice, the water vapor coming from the hottest environment is deposited on a cold surface (such as, for example, window panes or car windows) and is transformed into water droplets.

Then there are activities - such as cooking or taking a shower with hot water - that produce even more steam in the home and further contribute to the formation of condensation. An annoying phenomenon in the car, because the fogging of the windows can block our view and make driving dangerous, and unpleasant even at home, because it ends up staining the interior windows of our apartment. How to avoid it?

The presence of fogged windows, in addition to being a symptom of the gap between temperatures, is also an indication of a lack of oxygenation of the internal environments where it's warmer. This is why to avoid it (or reduce it) it is very important to ventilate the rooms: at home, it is good to open the windows every now and then and let the cold air from outside circulate - five minutes two or three times a day are enough.

This will also prevent the risk of proliferation of bacteria and molds: condensation water, in fact, is similar to rainwater (i.e. it is free of salts) and can easily cause bad odors and molds that can damage wooden walls and furniture. If we are in a car, on the other hand, it will be enough to keep the window open a little and let some air pass into the passenger compartment.

Another strategy could be to adopt a dehumidifier for keep the percentage of humidity in our rooms constant: especially if the radiators are turned on, the percentage of humidity can be lowered a lot, and an environment that is too dry can also harm our health, before being an incentive for the formation of condensation on the windows.

The ideal humidity percentage, which it would have maintained constantly, is around 40-50%. In the car, on the other hand, we could have the opposite problem: our breath in a cabin of a few square meters can cause an increase in humidity, which can be absorbed if we place a bag with silicon crystals in the car (easily available in spare parts stores. for cars or on the Internet), which are able to absorb excess moisture and thus help prevent condensation on glass and windows. If we want to be sure that the humidity level of our rooms is the ideal one, we can invest a few euros in the purchase of a hygrometer, which will indicate when the indoor air is saturated with steam.

Finally, to avoid condensation in the house it is good to isolate, by closing the doors, the environments in which we cook the dishes: after cooking, we activate the fume extractor hood and open the kitchen window to ventilate the room and let the steam out. accumulated.

The same is true even after you have taken a hot shower: just close the bathroom door and open the window at the same time, to let the steam generated by the hot water escape. Another tip to avoid humidity in the house is to avoid drying clothes at home, by hanging them on the radiators that are turned on: the water contained in the wet laundry will only increase the humidity levels.
