Wind will cover 22% of energy needs by 2030

In ten years, 12% of world energy consumption will be met by wind power, while in 2030 the percentage will rise to 22%. This is what emerges from the Global Wind Energy Outlook 2010, an analysis conducted by Greenpeace (in collaboration with Gwec), which also stated that investment in clean renewable sources will bring benefits not only to the environment, but also to the economic system. Provided, however, that governments take immediate action to allow it.

In ten years the 12% of the world's energy consumption will be met by wind, while in 2030 the percentage will rise to 22%. This is what emerges from the Global Wind Energy Outlook 2010, an analysis conducted by Greenpeace (in collaboration with See), which he also claimed as the investment in clean renewable sources it will bring benefits not only to the environment, but also to the economic system. Provided, however, that governments take immediate action to allow it.

The news was released precisely on the occasion of the closing of the China Wind Power 2010, Where Greenpeace and Global Wind Energy Council have released their encouraging report.

A country that is already giving the first encouraging signs is precisely there China, a reality usually not very sensitive to environmental issues, which however has already made great steps forward in wind power sector: if in 2009 it obtained from wind energy 25 GWatt, today it expects to obtain 250 by 2020. This means that China intends to invest heavily precisely in wind power sector.

But also the other countries they will have to do their part. In fact, if the goal for 2030 is to reach 20% of the total, it means that in the next 10 years other products will have to be produced by the wind. 1.000 GWatt, which will save more than 1,5 billion tons of CO2.

Wind will cover 22% of energy needs by 2030

However, the benefits for the environment are not the only positive note of this project, because investing in wind energy means increasing employees in the sector; in fact, it is estimated that in 2030 the number of people who will work in wind power will be more than three millions; today, however, there are hardly any 600.000.

To achieve these goals, all governments will have to make a serious commitment to investment in renewablesotherwise the energy revolution will give way to simple, small-scale improvements.
