Will the eco-incentives in 2010 also be for all wooden furniture?

While the rush to the 2010 incentives available from yesterday - until the available resources are exhausted - for the purchase of, among others, scooters, ecological houses, modular kitchens and appliances, directly from Furniture expo come to Government new requests to encourage furniture and design, strategic and driving sectors of Made in Italy and, to date, only marginally affected by the state contributions allocated for 2010.

To raise them, the president of Confindustria, Emma Marcegaglia during the opening speech of the most important international trade fair in the world held yesterday: "In a delicate moment like this, supporting consumers can be a smart way to support companies". But this is not enough. “We have all tightened our belts, now the time has come for the state apparatus to do the same. That reduce waste, cut public spending and free resources to invest, especially in research and innovation"In the opinion of the president of Confindustria, it is time to make stronger choices than in the past:" Entrepreneurs are very ready to start again but they cannot be left alone "- continued Emma Marcegaglia -" we need real, concrete commitments, not indefinitely because time in this case is not an independent variable but is essential ».

The president of FederLegnoArreda Rosario Messina adds to the dose: "the way in which the incentives because, if there is one thing that cannot and must not be exploited, it is the announcement effect ». Basically, interior decorators and Cosmit (the company that organized the show) complain: «First, bombastic incentives were announced, with the effect of delaying the few consumption that would have been achieved. Then the incentives turned out to be much poorer than those announced with the effect of disappointing consumers and postponing purchases again ».

In short, the interior designers do not fit in and aim, without half measures, at the redemption of the category. And they have the numbers on their side: these days 300 thousand visitors are expected in the city and the new products presented by the furnishing designers are more than 10 thousand. Faced with a crisis that is turning out to be more biting than expected, the furniture world relaunches with ideas, with creativity and solutions based on energy saving and environmental sustainability. Hoping to recover those 8 billion less in turnover recorded last year: from the 40 billion collected in 2008, the 2009 budgets had seen a decline to 32 billion.

The response from the Government was not long in coming and, to reassure the sector, came the words of Daniela Santanché with whom she announced that there will also be incentives for mobile: "A table has been organized - assured the Undersecretary for the Implementation of the Program - to study the most suitable measures for the problems of the sector". The works will start on April 22, but the key points of the initiatives that are being studied by the executive together with the top management of Federlegno and Cosmit should already be known tomorrow.

Santaché's reassurances come after those received, almost immediately by Roberto Formigoni, Governor of the Lombardy Region, who, speaking at the inauguration, had reiterated the important role that has always been attributed to the sector in this region and the desire to launch new measures to support furniture entrepreneurs. «We have done our part in full and we will continue to do so in the future - announced Formigoni -. I already have in mind to call a meeting to examine the situation and to study new measures ».

We hope, therefore, not to find ourselves again faced with a déjà-vu and that this time the words will soon be followed by concrete measures (and adequate funds) to support designers and craftsmen, but above all consumers who intend to acquire increasingly ecological furniture and furnishing accessories and environmentally friendly.
