And they have the numbers on their side: these days 300 thousand visitors are expected in the city and the new products presented by the furnishing designers are more than 10 thousand. Faced with a crisis that is turning out to be more biting than expected, the furniture world relaunches with ideas, with creativity and solutions based on energy saving and environmental sustainability. Hoping to recover those 8 billion less in turnover recorded last year: from the 40 billion collected in 2008, the 2009 budgets had seen a decline to 32 billion.
The response from the Government was not long in coming and, to reassure the sector, came the words of Daniela Santanché with whom she announced that there will also be incentives for mobile: "A table has been organized - assured the Undersecretary for the Implementation of the Program - to study the most suitable measures for the problems of the sector". The works will start on April 22, but the key points of the initiatives that are being studied by the executive together with the top management of Federlegno and Cosmit should already be known tomorrow.
Santaché's reassurances come after those received, almost immediately by Roberto Formigoni, Governor of the Lombardy Region, who, speaking at the inauguration, had reiterated the important role that has always been attributed to the sector in this region and the desire to launch new measures to support furniture entrepreneurs. «We have done our part in full and we will continue to do so in the future - announced Formigoni -. I already have in mind to call a meeting to examine the situation and to study new measures ».
We hope, therefore, not to find ourselves again faced with a déjà-vu and that this time the words will soon be followed by concrete measures (and adequate funds) to support designers and craftsmen, but above all consumers who intend to acquire increasingly ecological furniture and furnishing accessories and environmentally friendly.
