Why you shouldn't squeeze pimples

Why you shouldn't squeeze pimples

Pressing and squeezing the boils can spread the infection and ultimately make acne worse. Here's how to avoid complications.

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

There are those who feel a disproportionate passion for the ancient art of crushing pimples. There are those who feel extreme satisfaction at the purulent leakage of material not better identified by variously scattered pustules and papules, better if the body is that of the unfortunate husband. Squeezing pimples, in short, can be a real craze, but it has always been considered a bad idea by most dermatologists.

Pressing and squeezing the boils, in fact, can spread the infection and ultimately make acne worse. It can also result in scars on the face. If you really want to insist on getting rid of pimples, there are safer and more hygienic methods to use, but never do it with your bare hands.

Let's see them together.

How pimples are formed

It all begins in the hair follicles which contain the sebaceous glands that secrete oil. These glands are found more on the face and scalp than on other parts of the body, and when the hair or skin dies, the oil-leaking pores are blocked. This creates an excess of oil in the pores which are forced to expand under the skin in the form of a "balloon" of water. At this point, the skin appears red, swollen and infected.

When you squeeze a pimple there is a high risk of pushing the bacteria debris and dead skin more directly to the follicle. The follicle wall could rupture and shed infected material into the dermis, which is the innermost layer of the skin. Even if you take out a lot of that ugly material, in short, some of it is likely to come back in because of the pressure that was exerted.

What causes squeezing pimples

  • Scars: a fairly rare "effect" but it can happen, especially when you squeeze a pimple so deeply that it creates a hole
  • Scabs: Did you wake up with a big pimple and get rid of it right away? You did not consider that a very ugly ugly one could now form on the scene of the crime crust which will give you all the guise of a failed former sumo wrestler and won't be gone for a couple of weeks. Did you agree?
  • Infections: In some cases, you may even use medicines
  • Pain: especially the older ones, they hurt terribly
  • New pimples: you squash one and you could find a thousand more all around. Better to stay still

How to pop a pimple the right way

1. First understand if this is the case: if the pimple is still red, squeezing can be harmful, because the liquid cannot come out because the swelling has narrowed the channel that leads to the pore. For this, by pressing, the internal walls can break and spread the infection to the surrounding dermis

2. Wash your hands

3. Clean the skin around the pimple with a facial cleanser or denatured alcohol

4. Prevent fingers and nails from coming into contact with the pimple, so use two to squeeze it cotton sticks or a warm cloth or even a sterilized needle with which you will not have to touch anything other than the white part of the pimple

5. Stop squeezing when you see blood

If you have a real nuclear power plant on your face or on the rest of your body instead of pimples, you better go to a dermatologist.
