Which solar panels to install? The "photovoltaic Rooster" tells you

The Politecnico di Milano designs the photovoltaic Rooster, the new tool for recording and then comparing the performance of solar panels.

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

He does not make a fuss, but like his bipedal equivalent he wakes up at dawn: only instead of announcing the new day, the Rooster conceived by Polytechnic of Milan when the sun rises, it identifies the photovoltaic system most suitable for a specific place. We are talking about the Photovoltaic rooster, the new tool designed by the Department of Electronics and Information (DEI) of the PoliMi for record and then compare the performance of solar panels.

Power, voltage and electric current, together with strictly environmental data such as solar irradiation and temperature, are first measured and then transmitted in real time via Wireless or Gsm to an evaluator who will choose, based on this information, themost efficient installation for that particular place.

I photovoltaic modules, in fact, being linked to the instantaneous characteristics of solar radiation, they do not all work in the same way and, as we have also seen for the sanitary water heater, they cannot be installed indiscriminately in the mountains or at the sea. Since the evaluation with this device is conducted simultaneously, it becomes possible to make a truly objective choice of the most suitable photovoltaic panels for that specific place.

The photovoltaic Rooster can work in any area and, thanks to its small size, it is easily transportable, but as powered by solar energy itself, he will be able to start "singing" only when "day comes".
