These are the words of Claus Hipp, once the CEO of the company of the same name, founded in 1932 by Georg Hipp and which for over half a century has boasted a production of organic products for children of the highest quality.

The company dedicates itself with the utmost care and conviction to organic-biological agriculture, bearing upon itself the responsibility for the healthy and natural development of children.

The Hipp Bio farm

What really lies behind organic products: a trip to Hipp's bio-farm

An organic farm that extends for 2000 hectares 80 km from Gdansk in the province of Elblag, a place away from the smog and city traffic, an enchanted place where time seems to have stopped, this is the Hipp organic farm, which has opened the doors, escorted by a special guide: Stefan Hipp himself, to go and see with our eyes, and to touch firsthand how much effort and passion it takes to carry on an organic company that respects every form of life, and that has one and only goal: to participate in the development of our children in a healthy and natural way.

We walked the length and breadth of the farm, we could admire its colors and smells and could hear its noises. A farm in which the order not to cut the grass at lunchtime in order not to kill the bees is a mandatory order and in which every form of life is respected and protected, firmly claiming that nature never does anything for nothing .

The philosophy of Hipp

The company's philosophy is completely aimed at establishing a balance between nature and human being. The goal it pursues is to always be on the lookout for agricultural methods that work in harmony with nature, thus promoting biodiversity. For years HiPP has been trying to focus its efforts on finding the perfect balance between the environment and social and economic priorities, long before sustainability became such a central keyword, as it is today.

In the days spent in close contact, Mr Hipp has tried to tell us about the tradition of his family and his company, but above all the commitment made over the years to ensure that organic has the right space in a society where income matters more. of quality and well-being.

To grow an organic farm in this way, respect for the soil and nature are the first thing to implement, and an organic soil is a soil rich in life and healthy, in which living beings able to help crops live, without any need to use pesticides and chemicals.

In fact, there are many factors that impact on the soil, starting with urban expansion, working the soil at the wrong times up to the complete compromise of the aquifers.

And therefore, in the first place, its health must be preserved, because only a soil that respects its natural order is a healthy soil and a healthy soil produces healthy food for healthy people.

His mantra is precisely: "healthy soil, healthy food, healthy people" (healthy soil, healthy food, healthy people.)

In addition to this wonderful day on the estate and a lesson held specifically for us on the concept of organic and sustainability, we have interviewed for you Mr Stefan Hipp.

What are the real benefits of organic food in our everyday life?

“I believe that organic food is the cleanest and healthiest food that can exist, because it is food produced without any use of chemicals, and in which there is no residue. This is as far as organic food is concerned, because as far as organic crops are concerned, then the discourse is different. L'organic farming it has a completely different impact on the environment than traditional agriculture. Traditional agriculture has an impact on the surrounding environment, first pouring into the soil and then into the aquifers the chemicals used for cultivation. The greatest support we can give to our world, to give future generations a better world to live in, is that of protect organic crops, to consume organic products, to ensure that the demand on the market rises. "

What are the advantages of organic farming?

I think organic farming is important for our future for two reasons:

1) for human health, because organic products are 100% clean, produced without any use of chemicals and pollutants and for the health of the environment;

2) since it is the best way to protect the environment for future generations, and to make our world lovable and livable.

Why is it so important for baby food to be more closely controlled? And which are the most crucial?

Of course, children are the most sensitive consumers we can have, which is why it is extremely important that they consume food that is completely free from any chemical substance and any residue of polluting product.

This is the reason why we subject all products to approx 260 controls controlling more than 1.000 different substances.

We control the entire production process, our raw materials will have to be very elaborate to then put our products on the market, so the basis from which we start is obviously to produce all the raw materials without the use of chemicals.

We check the entire production process, we check the recipes, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, heavy metals, nitrites, nitrates, in our checks we pay attention to more than a thousand different substances, which increase every year, as they are developed in increasing numbers, to be used in agriculture.

What is the most efficient way to make consumers aware of the importance of organic farming?

I think it is really important to explain to consumers the basics of organic farming, the differences between organic farming and traditional farming, the benefits of organic farming for us humans and for the environment.

But also all the effects that conventional agriculture has brought and brings to our world. It destroys the soil, pollutes the aquifers. I think that the consumer is able to understand how it is clear that the best choice is that of the organic product.
I think it is logical that consuming non-organic products can somehow also harm our health, if the food is contaminated with some pesticide or pollutant.

What is your hope for the future regarding the environment?

My hope is that generations and all of us realize that world midnight is very close, it may even be almost too late. We must change the way of thinking, even if the new generations are already doing it, for them the issue of climate change is very relevant, they are also willing to spend more on organic products for example.

And so my hope is that in the future as many people as possible realize that these are the actions we can take to protect our environment and we all need to motivate as many people as possible for this purpose. If we roll up our sleeves to make our world better we could undo the damage done in the last 50-60 years.
