Eating time can negatively affect blood sugar levels, according to a new study

A new search found that eating at night, after 23pm, would not be a bad habit just for the figure, but could be seriously damaging to health, especially for the glycemia and the increased risk of diabetes (Read also: Symptoms of Diabetes: If you always wake up at this time of night, you should check your blood sugar)

The study, which wanted to investigate the misalignment between the central circadian clock and the daily behaviors typical of night work, divided 19 people, men and women, into two groups with different times: one group ate during the day, while the other ate of night. Those who ate at night detected a 6,4% spike in glucose levels, which could lead to serious health problems such as diabetes e heart disease. This study reinforces the idea that not only what, but also WHEN you eat, it's important to keep the health implications in mind. Eat at night increases glucose levels, as you don't have the ability to burn calories, so it's also easy to experience weight gain.

According to the research, nocturnal eating led to a misalignment between central and peripheral endogenous circadian rhythms (glucose) and impaired glucose tolerance, while limiting meals per day prevented it. These results offer a behavioral approach to prevent, for example, glucose intolerance especially in shift workers, but at the same time offer confirmation of how bad habits can significantly affect one's health.

In general when it comes to change your eating habits for the better, one of the most important steps is to avoid irregular eating times and, above all, to prefer healthy foods, avoiding those that are processed and too high in sugar.
