    In Emilia Romagna the first ten bins have arrived RAEEshop Evolution. The inhabitants of Bologna, Casalecchio, Ferrara, Ravenna, Modena, Forlì and Savignano can already place small WEEE and batteries in smart bins. This is a project of the Ecolight Consortium and the Hera Group.

    The service was born precisely to respond to the One against Zero, that is toobligation to take back small electronic waste free of charge - up to 25 cm, for example tablets and smartphones - by stores that have a sales area dedicated to electronic equipment exceeding 400 square meters.

    The service goes to meet the citizens because facilitates the delivery of WEEE and relieves shopkeepers from managing the waste delivered by customers. The project by the Identitis WEEE initiative, which is part of the Life + program of the European Commission.

    How are the new bins used for the collection of WEEE? Just identify yourself with your health card and indicate the type of product to be disposed of. A door will open where you can put the waste. In these bins you can deliver small WEEE, such as mobile phones and small household appliances, energy saving bulbs and portable batteries. The waste delivered is tracked from the moment of its collection to its treatment and recovery.

    This is just the beginning. In autumn about thirty new bins will arrive. "In practice, this is a double service that we provide both for distribution with the aim of relieving them of the management of this waste, and for consumers who will know that at a certain point they will be able to bring their electronic waste" - said the director. general of Ecolight Giancarlo Dezio. “The intent is not only to continue on that path of raising awareness and knowledge of WEEE, but also to make a significant contribution to the collection of this waste. The new goals indicated by the legislation are demanding: in the next two years we will have to go from 4 kg per capita collected to 12. And for this we need everyone's commitment: ours, on the part of distribution and on the part of the citizens ”.
