We can definitively say goodbye to the abnormal heat and the danceable temperatures that have characterized the autumn season up to now. An intense seventh of bad weather is expected from today until Saturday 9 November.

According to forecasts, our peninsula will be affected by the descent of a strong cyclonic vortex that will bring currents of cold and icy air and a further lowering of temperatures. Thunderstorms, of strong intensity, are expected until Saturday 9 November.

Snow arrives (also) at low altitudes

Strong showers and thunderstorms are affecting the entire Alpine arc and already in Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta the perturbation - according to 3b meteo - has assumed a snowy character above 1800 / 2000m of altitude and above 2200m there is an accumulation of about twenty centimeters of fresh snow.

So arm yourself with jackets, hats and gloves because the rains and thunderstorms will follow the snow, which will fall even at low (and very low altitude). Thanks also to the cold currents from the North Atlantic, the snow will fall in abundance and with a certain consistency already from Tuesday 5 November, especially long the Central-Eastern Alps.

The situation will get worse though from Thursday 7 November to Saturday 9 November. The probability of seeing the Alps turn white already at an altitude of 1000 meters is very high over a large part of the Alps and part of the Apennines.

Ski enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the first snow to finally dedicate themselves to some descents on the slopes. Here are the snow accumulations expected in the main ski resorts (source IlMeteo.com):
- up to 25 cm in Madesimo and Livigno in Valtellina (SO);
- over 30 cm in Madonna di Campiglio and Canazei (TN);
- about 15 cm in Dobbiaco (BZ) and Cortina d'Ampezzo (BL).
