Often the biscuits that we find in the supermarket are rich in sugars, saturated fats and other substances that should be avoided or consumed in great moderation. Now, however, an interesting novelty has arrived "signed" by Dr. Franco Berrino. These are two types of biscuits based on healthy and 100% vegetable ingredients, made in collaboration with NaturaSì.





NaturaSì, in collaboration with La Grande Via, the Association founded by Doctor Franco Berrino together with Enrica Bortolazzi, he launched two new biscuits based on a few simple ingredients, all from organic farming.

To prepare them, type 2 flour (or semi-wholemeal), cocoa and cinnamon or lemon (depending on the variety), high oleic sunflower oil as well as extra virgin olive oil are used. To sweeten instead no sugar: whole fruit is added, in particular raisins and dates, naturally sweet varieties but also excellent sources of fiber, micronutrients, vitamins and antioxidants.

These are therefore cookies that allow you to rediscover the true flavor of the ingredients, which in other products are often masked by large quantities of added sugars and various flavors. In short, those who are used to very sweet flavors and have a palate now addicted to industrial foods will hardly be able to appreciate Dr. Berrino's biscuits, while those who are a little more trained to feel "real" flavors will undoubtedly appreciate them.  

I La Grande Via biscuits, are available in two versions: Love and Joy (with cocoa and lemon), in both cases there is no added butter or eggs, so they are vegan biscuits. Which, from a production point of view, is also a certain challenge since not using animal-type fats brings with it the risk that biscuits are more fragile and less aesthetically beautiful.

Flour of wheat* soft type 2 65,8%, sunflower oil * high oleic, pumpkin seeds *, date *, extra virgin olive oil *, cocoa * 1,5%, leavening powder (potassium tartrates, sodium carbonates, corn starch), cinnamon *. (* from organic farming) - May contain peanutssoynuts and seeds of sesamo.



- ingredients of lemon shortbread biscuits:

Flour of wheat* tender type 2 57,7%, sunflower oil * high oleic, raisins * (sultanas *, sunflower oil *), sunflower seeds *, rice-based vegetable drink * (water, rice * , sunflower oil *, salt), extra virgin olive oil *, lemon zest * 0,7%, natural lemon flavor, baking powder (potassium tartrates, sodium carbonates, corn starch). (* from organic farming) - May contain peanutssoynuts and seeds of sesamo.

It can be seen that, indeed, the fiber content is very high, as well as that of proteins, while sugars are much lower than other types of biscuits.

However, the cost is a bit high: 4 euros for 250 grams of biscuits.
