Wasps fly with solar energy. Here's how they produce it

That's right: the technology that humans arrived at in the twentieth century has been present in the animal world for tens of thousands of years. And the most curious aspect of the whole thing, which in itself is already very interesting, lies in the fact that the solar force of these insects that we all know, is captured ... by the dress.

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

Even if the fullness of their activity has passed for this year, we will look forward to the next arrival of spring the wasps with a different eye. We will know, in fact, that their activity is largely permitted by thesolar power.

That's right: the tech to which humans arrived in twentieth century, is present in the animal world da tens of thousands of years. And the most curious aspect of the whole thing, which in itself is already very interesting, is that the solar force of these insects that we all know, is captured ... from the dress.

The famous yellow and black stripes (which, on closer inspection, are brown...) represent, in fact, real micro solar panels, of course natural, which allow wasps to perform their vital activities with more vigor and less fatigue.

The news is due to a group of researchers fromTel Aviv Israeli University, all of whom have recently discovered how a particular species of these insects, The so-called "Oriental wasps" (Vespa orientalis), characteristics of the south east europe, the north east africano and Southeast Asia, have real on their body "Solar cells".

In detail, the wasps use, like solar panels, two distinct parts - in fact, the yellow and brown "stripes" - clearly visible on the exoskeleton (or cuticle), the characteristic carapace with a composition similar to the human and animal endoskeleton, and which has the function of protect the wasps from the outside.

Indeed, the two-color pigment "dress" has always been seen as a signal to be used for avert dangers, or to let other animals know that it could be contained poison.

Now, comes the discovery that it's not just like that, but it is a Completely natural "solar operation". This is due to the melanin (the same present in human skin) contained in the brown parts, and to the xantoperina enclosed by the yellow "stripes". Together, melanin and xanthperine manage to capture the 99% of ultraviolet radiation.

This particular species of wasp, it has been observed by Israeli researchers, lives in colonies built in the immediate subsoil. A large part of one's energy is destined for excavation operations and construction colonies, which appear made up of environments hexagonal, similar in all respects to bee hives. The fact that aroused curiosity was the period of maximum activity of the eastern wasps, much more intense in summer compared to the winter season, e twice as hectic in the hours around noon compared to morning and evening: the opposite, for example, of the habits of bees and other species of wasps. In short: the more sun there will bea, the more these wasps worked.

This singular behavior has therefore been studied; and the result, in addition to the sensational discovery, is confirmed by high temperatures withstood from eastern wasps (over 40 degrees) and a physical system of transformation of heat into electricity, to keep the body temperature low (and vice versa, to develop heat when the outside temperature drops) and convert the solar force into ... workforce.

It will be said: surprising miracles of nature. And who knows that, one day, this principle will not be useful for the creation of more efficient solar cells for us, "Poor humans".
