Further research has shown that older women who take high doses of supplements may be more prone to falls and broken bones. So while there is no question that vitamin D and calcium are essential for bone health, it appears that very high doses of supplements are not beneficial to health.

 

This is further evidence that overdosing on supplements is not advisable and, in terms of bone health, once you reach a certain level of intake, increasing that amount has no positive effect.
