Theassignment of the vineyards of the Regional Reserve in Umbria. Following the regional tender, they were granted 38 hectares of vineyards for young farmers and 80 hectares to other producers, for a total of 118 hectares in total.

The assignment is described as convenient, since sharply lower than market prices. This was underlined by the Councilor for Agriculture of the Umbria Region Fernanda Cecchini who expressed satisfaction with the response of young producers under the age of 40, who were assigned a third of the planting rights for the vineyards.

This call has allowed farms and young people to take action for start new agricultural projects despite the crisis. The tender will be used by Umbria to maintain the current level of regional area planted with vineyards.

In Umbria we find vineyards on 13 thousand hectares of agricultural land, which allow the production of DOP and IGP wines. Qualifying wine production will allow Umbria to avoid any negative effects of new regulation of the European Union, which will come into force from next year with the transition from a system based on planting / explanting rights to the system of authorizations for vine plantings.

"With the regional call" - Councilor Cecchini explained - “we therefore tried to avoid the possible reduction of the regional wine production potential and we wanted to satisfy the requests for replanting rights by regional producers to adapt production to market demands”.

Furthermore, the producers benefiting from the assignment will be able to submit an application for the granting of the planned aid from the extent of the restructuring and conversion of vineyards, with absolute priority in the eventual regional ranking.

Finally, approximately 170 hectares remain to be allocated of planting rights of the regional reserve. This will happen through a further call to be published in the coming months. Therefore, the interested parties pay attention to the new calls that the Umbria Region will publish soon.
