    On 11 November Slow Food celebrates the summer of San Martino with all the gardens of the national network. The protagonist of this fourth edition will be the children's snack.

    It is now the third year, since we were born, that we are talking about the national holiday ofVegetable garden in Condotta, the project for schools curated by slow food. Going to see the old articles, we realized how much this initiative has grown steadily over the years: in 2009 there was talk of 211 school gardens, in 2010 di over 300 and this year we have reached an altitude 421. A sign that the love for the earth and good things is spreading more and more among both adults and children, who thanks to projects of this type can discover the genuine products and learn the rules of aproper nutrition.




    And just today, on the day ofIndian summer, the Slowfood festival will bring together all the gardens of the national network, which will be set aside, and the day will be an opportunity for pupils, teachers and local producers to discuss what they have learned during the year and celebrate the results obtained.

    In fact, the project uses thevegetable garden as a teaching tool to teach the culture of environmental protection, of the correct supply and traditions of the products of our land. Each garden is cultivated throughout the year with organic and biodynamic methods and with local products that can be used in children's nutrition during the school period.

    And, after last year's honey, it will be there snack mid-morning or afternoon to be celebrated in this fourth edition. Precisely to teach children to abandon sweets and prepackaged foods, from the morning the classes will be engaged in Pleasure game and they will try to taste bread and oil, to rediscover the flavors of traditional and genuine foods.

    Furthermore, from this year Slowfood wants to start a educational path on cereals, with the involvement of schools and food communities: from local businesses to the ancient knowledge of grandparents, everyone can contribute to afto discover the old food traditions to the pupils, the most correct way to go shopping and the ancient techniques of food preparation. Each class can freely join this new initiative and the best works, made up of interviews, stories and recipes, will be presented at the next edition of the Salone del Gusto.
