Onezoom's digital tree of life is complete and has finally been shown to its users in all its glory

Onezoom is a fascinating biodiversity project developed by British researchers from Imperial College London and the University of Oxford that allows users to interactively discover the evolution of animal and plant species in the world with an innovative approach also nicknamed "THEl Google Earth of biology".

Virtual viewers can thus know and learn more about over 85,000 life forms, having available detailed information that also includes the vulnerability or extinction of the selected species, represented for example by the color of the leaves of the tree. All in a single web page and with a few clicks that also allow you to save the species of interest through a brand new screenshot tool.

The project of the digital tree of life was created in a simplified version to make it affordable for everyone.

However, the newly developed algorithm has something sensational in that it allows the user one maximum customization of his digital experience in the world of biology. Visitors to the project can indeed create the tree of life, selecting their favorite species or those they wish to investigate and find out how they relate to each other and how they have evolved over the history of the planet.

This is one of the many strengths of OneZoom that aims to keep the user's attention constant, interacting with him in a customized tour.

In fact, this is not always possible in museums, culture centers or parks that are never large enough to contain all the finds or species that the user would like to see or those that might interest him more than others.

To spread knowledge about world biodiversity even more, the OneZoom team updated its algorithms and also decided to use the project to beneficial purposes, sponsoring the adoption of a leaf and therefore of a species. Many associations and individuals have taken part in this initiative, adopting over 800 leaves so far.
