Un resort very very special, the one that arose in the park of the spa town of Pedras Salgadas, in the northern part of Portugal. Or rather, a eco-resort on the tree formed by two tree houses in the shape of a snake.

Designed by Luís Rebelo de Andrade and Tiago Rebelo de Andrade, the shelters were developed in collaboration with a modular systems company making sure that small buildings could be adaptable to a variety of landscapes and climates.

The homes are accessible via a open deck gradually widening towards the entrance similar to the body of a snake. And it is precisely the part that introduces into the house that recalls the shape of a snake's head. All the houses are equipped with a small kitchen and a laundry area but the strong point is another: the bedroom and the study have a skylight that allows you to admire the night sky once lying down. In addition, in front of the bed there is a large window which offers one breathtaking view of the surrounding greenery.

All built with native raw materials, slate and wood, which contribute to almost totally reduce the visual impact of the houses within the natural setting of the park. Sustainable and ecological, the tree houses of Pedras Salgadas they have walls with reinforced insulation layers, while electricity is supplied by photovoltaic panels, combined with a system of LED lighting low consumption that illuminates both the interior of the house and the entrance to the walkway, at night. Snake houses also have a rainwater recovery system.

The architects are working on other additional versions of the tree houses, placed in different environments and climates.

And you, would you like a house (or an office) like this?
