Traceable separate waste collection: the "domestic Sistri" is being tested in the province of Modena

We are committed to separate collection every day. But once the waste has been disposed of in the appropriate bins, what happens to it? We have asked ourselves this many times, especially in those situations where there are only differentiated bins and the rigor of door to door is lacking. Collecting, sorting, correctly transporting and recycling the waste produced by citizens should be the commitment of all local administrations to reduce the environmental impact of household garbage and give new life to materials.

We have asked ourselves this many times, especially in those situations where there are only differentiated bins and the “rigor” of door to door is lacking. Collect, sort, transport correctly e recycle waste produced by citizens, should be the commitment of all local administrations to reduce the environmental impact of household garbage and give new life to materials.

It is with this in mind and with this objective that the project launched by Emilian municipality of San Vito di Spilambertor, a fraction in the province of Modena, where a new waste traceability systemi thanks to monitoring of 500 bins, For a total of 1000 users involved. A project supported by the Emilia Romagna Region and operationally put into practice by the local utility or the Hera group.

Thanks to this initiative, there will be immediate benefits for the environment but also economic benefits. How?

With the smart card provided, the inhabitants of the small Modenese hamlet will be able to take advantage of discounted rates on TARSU, really proportionate to the actual use of the waste disposal service: a way to reward whom recovers and recycles even in the small home environment, putting aside the old containers.

But despite the initiative, the project was not appreciated by all citizens: for many, the new waste management system put in place will not prove particularly effective, because the traceability does not reduce the amount of garbage and some argue that it would be more appropriate to adopt a system of door-to-door separate waste collection.

In fact, if everything goes as planned, the Domestic "SISTRI" it will facilitate and make the waste disposal and recycling procedure more transparent.

    Traceable separate waste collection: the

In short, soon in the province of Modena separate collection of household waste will be monitored from the bins to the storage centers and the paths made by paper, plastic, glass and metal will have no more secrets. Provided that the smart card does not end up like the black boxes of the much discussed waste traceability system that will become mandatory starting next year.

And who knows that the project is not taken up by other more complex realities, such as Rome and Naples!
