    The Ministry of Health has the sale of toxic and carcinogenic fur was blocked in “D&G”, “Blumarine Baby” and “Woolrich” children's clothing, also starting new investigations.     The Ministry notified the companies of the blocking of the sale of baby garments with animal fur, arranging: "for all the time necessary to carry out the checks and assessments on the safety of the product, pursuant to article 107 paragraph 2 letter d) n.1 of Legislative Decree 206/2005 said Code of Consumo, the prohibition for importers / distributors to supply, propose the supply or display the items involved in the sales network ".

    And it has also prepared, through the Carabinieri for the Protection of Health - NAS, new samples that will be used to conduct further eco-toxicological tests on animal fur components and which will be followed by a further assessment by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, with the consequent definitive ruling by the Ministry regarding the possible classification of these garments as "dangerous products".

    The stop to the sale, decided by the Ministry of Health, concerns the following items for children:

    • D & G (36 month baby coat, with rabbit fur insert, cost € 945,00), code 31 L51C23 FU2J5 S8292 MELANGE GRAY, for hexavalent chromium (CR VI) 3,5 mg / kg, trivalent chromium (CR III) extractable from sweat 219 mg / kg;
    • BLUMARINE BABY (jacket for 36-month-old girls, with rabbit fur insert, cost: 433,00 euros), code 357PN11 69661, for trivalent chromium (CR III) that can be removed from sweat 176 mg / kg, Formaldehyde 58 mg / kg;
    • WOOLRICH (24 month baby parka, with raccoon fur insert, cost: € 369,00), code 07 8055683648348 WKCPS1746, for Trivalent Chromium (CR III) extractable from sweat 86 mg / kg, Formaldehyde 96 mg / kg.

    The block was also arranged for the sale of an additional article tested by LAV, consisting of a blanket in lamb fur for babies: Brand Christ (lamb fur blanket of German production, cost: € 49,90), dealer code V10004 N011, for Total Chromium 8.600 mg / kg;

    "Well yes, in addition to" costing "the lives of the millions of animals from which it is still horribly stolen today, animal fur can also represent a harm to health, in particular of children who by age are more exposed to the effects of chemicals used in the tanning and production phase, and for the environment: we ask parents, fashion companies and institutions in charge to ban products with animal fur " , declares Simone Pavesi, LAV Fur Campaign Manager.
