It is important to take good care of them and not only in summer when we have to show them off on the beach or with open shoes. How to make a foot bath

A good foot bath includes 3 basic steps don't forget:



1) Soaking phase

Prepare hot water to add all the necessary ingredients and soak your feet for at least 15-20 minutes

2) Scrub

To help remove dead skin softened by hot water, you can proceed with a simple scrub based on 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and one of sweet almond oil. Massage the mixture especially on the hardest areas: heels, any corns and calluses but also on the entire soles of the feet and on the cuticles.

3) Rinsing and hydration

After rinsing your feet well, dry and moisturize them. In this sense, an aloe gel to be gently massaged is useful, but shea butter is also excellent.

A foot bath for every occasion

The feet may have specific problems to be treated in this case we recommend using a personalized foot bath:

Corns and calluses

Ingredients useful:

  • Acqua
  • Baking soda
  • Chamomile
  • Essential oil of geranium or lavender

Pour 3 tablespoons of baking soda into a bowl of hot water and soak for 15/20 minutes. This treatment helps eliminate dead cells. A little chamomile and a few drops of geranium or lavender essential oil can be added to the baking soda.

Swollen feet

Ingredients useful:

  • Cold water
  • Baking soda
  • Essential oils of lavender, mint, rosemary and thyme (or alternatively fresh or dried plants)

In this case it is better to choose a cold foot bath in order to reactivate the circulation of the areas where swelling is noted. A normal bicarbonate foot bath is fine to which you can add a few drops of essential oil of lavender, mint, thyme or rosemary or fresh or dried herbs directly.



Bad smells

ingredients:

  • Water basin
  • Baking soda
  • Infusion of sage
  • Tender
  • Sale
  • Ginger

In the case of feet that give off bad smells, there are many foot baths that can be done to stem the problem. The classic baking soda is fine but you can also use a sage infusion to add to the foot bath or alternatively a cup of black tea, a ginger infusion or a couple of tablespoons of coarse cooking salt. Choose the solution that inspires you the most or try them all.

Cracked heels

ingredients:

  • Acqua
  • Baking soda
  • Lavender essential oil

If you have the problem of cracked heels, try to intervene twice a week with a foot bath followed by a scrub and the application of a compress or moisturizer. To soften the skin and then be able to remove it easily, a hot lavender and bicarbonate foot bath is recommended, which will also have a pleasant relaxing effect. Fill a basin with hot water, pour two or three tablespoons of baking soda and four drops of lavender essential oil. The duration of the foot bath is 15-20 minutes. After the foot bath, do a scrub.

Ingrown toenail

  • Acqua
  • Salt, Epsom salts or baking soda

Simple foot baths with water and salt can quickly solve the problem of ingrown toenails. It is in fact a solution with a disinfectant power that must be applied with a certain consistency 2/3 times a day by immersing the feet in water for about 15-20 minutes. Also excellent footbaths based on Epsom salts or those based on bicarbonate.

Mycosis

ingredients:

  • Acqua
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Tea tree oil

In case of nail fungus, the foot bath is a natural remedy indicated and can be done with different ingredients. Water and bicarbonate is certainly recommended but a vinegar-based foot bath is also particularly recommended (two parts of water for one of wine or apple vinegar. Keep your feet soaked for at least 15 minutes). As for essential oils, we advise you to use tea tree oil with just a few drops in the water of the foot bath or directly on the nail affected by mycosis.

Tips for the perfect foot bath

Cold feet

ingredients:

  • Hot Water
  • bicarbonate
  • favorite essential oils

Any type of foot bath is suitable for cold feet as long as it is done with hot (not hot) water. For example, you can add your favorite essential oils to 3 tablespoons of baking soda.

Ingredients:

  • Acqua

  • Essential oil of rosemary or lavender
  • Celery decoction

If chilblains affect your feet you can alleviate the problem by taking a bicarbonate foot bath with the addition of a few drops of essential oil of rosemary or lavender with decongestant power. Alternatively, prepare a decoction of celery and add it to the foot bath to be done 2 or 3 times a day. You have to cook a few stalks of celery in half a liter of water for at least an hour.

Partridge eye

  • Acqua
  • Baking soda or salt
  • Epsom Hall

If you have pain and discomfort in your feet due to partridge eye, a great way to get relief immediately is to take foot baths with warm water and integral salt or bicarbonate or Epsom salts for at least 30 minutes. Once the area has softened, it is possible to pass a foot file to try to decrease the extension of the partridge eye, but without forcing it if pain is felt. Immediately afterwards apply Arnica Gel.

Menstrual cramps

Ingredients useful:

  • 2 spoons of mustard
  • a basin of water
  • spices such as cinnamon, ginger, cloves and thyme

Soak your feet for at least 15-20 minutes and after drying them well, massage them with an aloe vera gel to prolong the feeling of well-being.

PERFECT FOOTBATH

To recap in your home they must never be missing:

  • a basin large enough to immerse both feet
  • baking soda, coarse salt, or Epsom salts
  • essential oils best suited to you
  • herbs, spices, herbal teas, teas and various infusions
  • sugar cane
  • aloe gel or shea butter

  • Wash your feet every day
  • Use neutral and natural soaps
  • Always dry them well
  • Moisturize your feet
  • Trim your toenails properly to avoid ingrown toenails
  • Reactivate the circulation
  • Choose socks made with breathable materials and suitable for the seasonal climate, without seams or with flat seams
  • Use the right shoes
  • Whenever possible, take off your shoes, walk barefoot and let your feet breathe
