When you are an off-site university student, it is almost impossible to find sustainable accommodation that you like and affordable. But here is the solution of the Swedish architects of the studio Tengbom: “Smart student unit”, a compact, economical, ecological, intelligent and design tiny house.

Working on a target group of students of the University of Lund, it was possible to create a psmall accommodation of just 10 square meters equipped with a loft bed, kitchen, bathroom and small garden with patio. The smart unit is built in multilayer of locally sourced wood and has an efficient layout capable of reducing the average rent rate by as much as 50%, as well as the ecological impact and CO2 emissions during construction.

Rounded lines and an apple green color complete the offer, making the small space a young and bright alternative, so ecological that it is exposed to the Virserum Art Museum. And if you think it is too small to live in it peacefully, just watch this video to change your mind:

How much? In reality it is a prototype: "We have not yet established the prices, for the moment it was necessary to establish the production process and understand where to cut costs, before selling the houses to individual buyers", explains the team of architects.

“With this well-planned and sustainable student housing unit we want to challenge conventional views and show new ways of thinking. What is "good living"? What materials can we use? To meet the future in a sustainable way we must be innovative in all aspects and have the courage to break the old canons ", concludes the architect Linda Camera.
