Tie Dye, How To Make This Dyeing Technique In A Few Simple Steps At Home. Recycle t-shirts and other old clothing!
Each of us has clothes in the closet that we no longer use, but which could be exhumed from the bottoms of drawers to be transformed into current clothing. How? Thanks to a type of do-it-yourself coloring, which gives a hippie and flamboyant style to any garment it is applied: the Tie Dye, literally “knot painting”.
Tie Dye is an ancient dyeing technique that consists in tying the fabric in different ways, using elastic or a cord. The resulting decoration is a set of shaded designs, not far from the fantasies loved by the children of flowers.
It would seem that this technique has very ancient origins, so much so that it dates back to 5000 BC, when it was already practiced in Egypt and Mesopotamia. It is also used in India, with the name of "Bandhana", and in Japan, where it is called "Shibori".
The Tye Die can be considered a way to greatly reduce waste, in fact it allows you to recycle old items of clothing, such as disused t-shirts or scarves. It can also be made using natural dyes. (Read also: Shibori: how to dye and decorate fabrics naturally)
