He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

This is the story of Debora Rizzo, a woman with a big heart who lives in Soverato in Calabria. The volunteer adopts older dogs that are found in kennels giving them the warmth of a family at least in the last period of their life.

Debora is 30 years old and has a noble soul. She is one of the few people who, instead of choosing puppies or otherwise beautiful and healthy dogs, she prefers to take home the older and run-down ones, that is, those that she does not want anyone and who would therefore be destined to die in the kennel.

    As he told the Corriere:

“You see them growing old in the playpen, often dying in the kennel. And I can't stand it. So, when I can, I take them home "

There are many adoptions of which she has become the protagonist in recent years. It all started with Nike, a sick 14-year-old bitch who was with Debora just a month before she died. It was then the turn of Nonno Lupo, a 20-year-old dog who had entered the kennel as a puppy but at the end of his life he was letting himself go too much. Thanks to the care of the volunteer he was reborn and lived another year and a half surrounded by love. Debora remembers well that she loved the sea and lying in the sun.

“From Lupo's experience - Debora had told last year to Il Mattino Debora last year to Il Mattino - I rediscovered the beauty of time. I didn't know how long it was going to stay, or how to do it. He was the teacher and he let himself be discovered. He taught me to slow down, stop and enjoy a sunset. I took him to the sea, which he had never seen, and for a moment it seemed different. Grandpa Lupo discovered many things for the first time in his twenties because he was first locked up in a kennel. I was in high school when I was twenty. I imagine my whole life until high school before discovering the sea, a garden, a pillow, a piece of apple ". And, no doubt, the dog understands how important what has been done for him is. “With all the experiences I've had with older dogs, I realized that gratitude lies in amazement”.

Currently the volunteer has two elderly dogs with her, Hill aged 11, a heart patient and Aurora, a former abandoned mare aged 14.

Debora explains that adopting an older dog is not an easy choice also because people are afraid of suffering. These dogs, in fact, have low life expectancies but those who adopt them become attached to them in a short time and seeing them "go away" is certainly not easy.

He reminds us, however, that it is much worse to let them finish their life in the kennel. He therefore asks all of us for a courageous and heartfelt choice, a gesture of love: to go to the kennel and adopt an elderly dog:

"Do not be afraid. Be generous with them and with you: what they will give you is beautiful. Trust us ".
