This steak is not made of meat, it does not pollute and does not come from intensive farming

It looks like beef but it isn't, because the steak you see in these images was made in the laboratory and without killing any animals. It happens in Israel where the start-up Aleph Farms has started a real food revolution.

And the first steak made from test tube cells, for now it's just a prototype and the taste needs to be perfected, according to the creators themselves. But let's talk about the first meat, obtained without the need for slaughter and which looks so much like the conventional one.

The shape, appearance and texture have been studied in detail and the new product made with cells isolated from the cow reduces the environmental impact. In the laboratory there is no need for hectares of land for grazing, water, feed and antibiotics.

The future according to the creators is that of an industry that eliminates factory farming, but for now, the steak shouldn't go on sale for another three years. The prototype costs 50 dollars, a price that will then adapt to the market trend and therefore to the request.

But someone who has already tried it is Amir Ilan, chef at the Parisian restaurant in Ramat Gan, Israel, who reviewed the steak with enthusiasm.

“Aleph Farms steak is thinly sliced and cooked in about a minute For me, it is a great experience to eat meat that has the look and feel of beef, but was created without antibiotics and does not harm animals or animals. 'environment ”, explains IIan.

In detail, the meat was created using a few cells from an animal that are painlessly extracted. These cells are then fed and cultured to produce a complex matrix that replicates muscle tissue.

To be able to find the right link for the nutrients to exist, the start-up used a platform of bioengineering developed in collaboration with the Technion - Israeli Institute of Technology, Haifa.

“We are shaping the future of the meat industry. We made the vision a reality by growing steak under controlled conditions. The initial products are still relatively thin, but the technology we have developed marks a real breakthrough and a big step forward in the production of a cell-grown steak, ”says Didier Toubia, co-founder and CEO of Aleph Farms.

The first steak was made with the fetal bovine serum, derived from the blood of cow fetuses.

“We are not against traditional agriculture, but against intensive livestock farming, which are very inefficient and very polluting and do not guarantee animal welfare”, concludes Toubia.
