Prunes are the best snack for longer and lose weight, according to new research





Having a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack helps us keep hunger pangs at bay between meals. But what is the best snack? According to a new study le prunes they can actually help curb food cravings. (Read also: Plums: not just jam! Tricks and recipes to preserve and enjoy them all year round)

A systematic review

All study participants ate foods that had a similar number of calories as a snack, such as prunes, raisins, or jelly-like candies. What did it turn out? Those who ate dried plums felt more satisfied, and they ate less during main meals

The researchers divided the participants into two groups, both of which underwent weight loss programs. The only difference between the two groups was that one had to snack on healthy foods, while the other was specifically told to eat dried plums. Patients in the latter group lost more weight than the others.

The study shows that fdried burp can increase the sense of satiety, for this reason it is advisable to include it in the diet especially if the goal is to lose weight. Additionally, research reveals that plums are packed with nutrients that can help control appetite. In fact, they contain fibers which increase the sense of fullness, and this can promote weight loss. However, eating too many prunes can have the opposite effect and increase your calorie intake, also because like most dried fruit is high in sugar; for this reason it is always advisable to check the portions.

The advice is to combine the snack of dried plums with a source of protein, And to limit yourself to one serving at a time (about five plums). Also remember that too many plums could cause gastrointestinal disorders, due to their laxative effect.
