Illicit waste trafficking and aggravated fraud: two farms in the Lodi area targeted by the Easy Energy operation

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

Maxi preventive seizure (for a good 3.937.029 euros!) In two farms of Lodigiano, accused of illegal waste trafficking and aggravated fraud to obtain public funds. The Carabinieri of the RAC together with the staff of the ARPA of Lodi and the Alto Lodigiano Veterinary District, who had started the investigations in 2018, opened the Pandora's box.

What happened in the farms managed by the two companies “TONINELLI F.lli Agricola SS (based in Pieve Fissiraga) and LUCRA 96 Srl (based in Villanova del Sillaro) really makes you shiver. In fact, in the factories in question, the pigs were fed waste from the food and dairy industry and the pork meat was then used to produce cured meats such as PDO raw ham from Parma and San Daniele.

Following the discovery, a preventive seizure of thousands of hams - as many as 8.500 hams - still in the maturing phase (with subsequent downgrading to national ham) had taken place. But it does not end there: the owners of the two companies were then denounced for having illegally created a storage area, where 75 tons of special waste were deposited.

Waste used illegally to produce energy and as fertilizer for the fields

Much of this waste was also used illegally in the plants biogas to produce electricity from renewable sources, which is why the operation in question conducted by the police takes the name of "Easy Energy". And at the end of the energy production process, the waste was dumped on the land of the investigated agricultural companies and in another 15 scattered between Lodi, Pavia and Milan, unaware of the origin of the "fertilizer" which was anything but organic.

In the fields analyzed by the police have been found traces of metals, plastics and other materials deriving from the spillage of residual waste (the so-called "digestate") instead of organic fertilizer.

Through this illegal conduct (and dangerous for the environment and health), the suspects had managed to make a profit of 17.133.702 euros, deriving from the undue achievement of public funds from the National Energy Service Manager (GSE) and from a undue savings linked to the irregular disposal of special waste.
